The aim was to design a travel backpack that brings back your freedom by drastically reducing its volume while shifting the weight closer to the body – allowing you to carry more without adding unnecessary bulk. To achieve this, I decided to base my backpack on a vacuum compression system. This lets me reduce the volume of the clothing by removing air, making everything much more compact. At the same time, the stiffness that results from vacuum compression forms a stable back panel – eliminating the need for additional rigid components. With its vacuum compartment and an inflatable mold that guides the vacuum into a predefined form, Indie perfectly adapts to your back’s contours and its content. The size evolves alongside your needs, making it a flexible, lightweight, and truly adaptable solution for every trip. With this approach, I aim to enable greater freedom of movement, maximize packing capacity, and provide a comfortable fit.
